If you’re a parent, the safety of your children is always at the front of your mind, especially when it comes to new drivers. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has even found that the fatal crash rate for 16-19 year olds in the U.S. is nearly 3 times higher than drivers ages 20 and over. So how does a parent keep their children safe on the road while also allowing them to have the ability to develop their skills as a driver? Chevrolet Teen Driver Technology, available at Graff Chevy in Mt. Pleasant, MI will ease your worried mind!

Teen Driver Technology Features Promote Safe Driving with Your New Driver

Chevrolet's newest safety technology, Teen Driver, promotes safe driving among the newest drivers on the road. The technology includes features like speed limit control and alerts, speaker volume limits, and active safety technology such as Forward Collision Alert, Front Automatic Braking and Side Blind Zone Alert. You can even customize which features you want to enable to match your young driver’s needs and current driving habits. If you need assistance in setting these features or changing them, don't hesitate to contact one of our Chevrolet Technology experts at (989) 773-3937.

Driver speed alert

Teen Driver Speed Alert

One of the most common reasons for accidents and unsafe driving is speeding. So how does a parent limit speeding and the risk of an accident? Thanks to Teen Driver technology, it is possible to set a maximum speed value from 40-75 mph. Whenever this limit is surpassed the driver will get a visual and audible alert, and it will be recorded on the in-vehicle report card.

Driver max volume

Teen Driver Volume Limit & Radio Mute

You may not be surprised to learn that 93% of teen drivers play loud distracting music while driving. Thankfully, Teen Driver Technology offers a volume limit you can set, only allowing the driver to keep the volume at or below the pre-set limit. Our ASE Certified Chevrolet technicians would be happy to help set the volume limit at your next oil change!

Another crucial safety element often neglected by teen drivers is their seat belt. Teen Driver Technology will automatically mute the radio volume when front safety belts are not fastened, keeping your teen driver and their passengers safe.

Driver report card

Teen Driver In-Vehicle Report Card

The feature that we feel will most put parents at ease is the Teen Driver In-Vehicle Report Card, which tracks data on each of the vehicle’s trips with your teen. It will tally such metrics as distance travelled, number of forward collision alerts, and over-speed warnings, allowing you to identify issues with your teen's driving and coach them to improve. Your teen might not always tell you the whole truth about bad driving habits or they may be oblivious to them. That’s where Teen Driver Report Card will come in handy to give you a full account of their trips, allowing you better instruct your young driver!

Driver easy access

Easy Access to Teen Driver Technology Through Chevrolet MyLink Touchscreen Display

Teen Driver Technology is easy and intuitive to set up and interfaces through the Chevrolet MyLink touchscreen display. You’ll be prompted to enter a PIN to access the system and then register a key fob. When your teen is driving with the registered key fob, the Teen Driver features that you have set will become enabled.
